Research Unbound Through Open Access

Celebrate International Open Access Week with the Mason Libraries!   A special panel presentation will take place on Wednesday, October 26, from 1:30-3:00 p.m. in Research Hall,  Room 163.  Research Unbound Through Open Access will feature

  • Dr. Joseph Serene, Treasurer/Publisher for the American Physical Society, will discuss the first year of the society’s launch into open access publishing, offered to authors as an alternative to the traditional model
  • Robert Schatz, BioMed Central North American Sales Manager, will talk about the sustained success of BMC’s “gold” open access publishing model
  • Dr. Daniel Cohen, Associate Professor of History and Director of the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media (CHNM) at George Mason University, will describe PressForward, a site hosted by CHNM that serves as a platform for sharing, compiling, and publishing scholarship.
  • Dr. Omar Al-Ubaydli, Assistant Professor of Economics at George Mason University, will discuss economic aspects of open access publishing and its repercussions on the industry and on library purchasing power
