On June 1, 2010, The National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) announced that George Mason University Libraries received a $24,750 Detailed Processing Grant to process the Oliver F. Atkins photograph collection, and the Arthur E. Scott photograph collection.
The grant provides support for Mason Libraries’ Special Collections and Archives Department to hire two students and purchase supplies for the year-long project. Mason Libraries is one of only 13 institutions selected to receive a Detailed Processing Grant – awarded to those institutions that have established collection-level control of all of their archives and manuscript collections.
Special Collections & Archives announces its latest online exhibit, “Attacking Complex Problems: The Life and Work of Dr. John N. Warfield.†Professor Emeritus of Public Policy and Integrative Studies, Dr. Warfield (1925-2009), spent nearly two decades on the faculty of George Mason, and is best remembered as the head of the University’s Center for Interactive Management (CIM). Carefully selected photos and documents from each period of Dr. Warfield’s life are blended into a comprehensive and compelling celebration of the 60+ year career of an intriguing individual.
The impending move into the new Mason Data Center will not affect Mason Libraries’ online services. All Mason Libraries’ systems (including library.gmu.edu) will be up and running over the weekend, June 4-6, 2010.
