Celebrate Preservation Day!

As part of National Library Week, George Mason University Libraries, in partnership with the Washington Research Libraries Consortium (WRLC), are designating April 15, 2009 as Preservation Awareness Day. Mason Libraries will unveil an exhibit, “Prolonging our Treasures through Preservation”.  The exhibit is on display in Fenwick Library, 2nd Floor, Wing A through the end of May.

poster_04_centered2To also celebrate Preservation Awareness Day, Special Collections & Archives will unveil a short film, The FUNdamentals of Book Care in 5 Easy Lessons featuring a special guest appearance by Mason Men’s Basketball coach, Jim Larranaga. The film provides informative lessons about preservation and proper book care, and offers a special behind the scenes look at the Libraries’  preservation lab.

Johnson Center Library, Arlington Campus Library and the Mercer Library/Prince William will be participating as well; each library will have a poster outlining the Top Ten Reasons to Preserve the Library Collections and will be showing The FUNdamentals of Book Care in 5 Easy Lessons. Check us out on April 15th!
