The Center for the Study of Public Choice and The University Libraries are pleased to announce the 2008 James W. Buchanan Lecture, November 11, 3:30pm,Â Johnson Center Cinema, Fairfax Campus.
Professor Barry R. Weingast, Stanford University and Hoover Institution, will present “Liberty and the Rule of Law: Why are Developing Countries so Resistant?”Â The event also includes a Special Collections & Archives‘ short film on the life and work of Dr. Buchanan.Â A reception follows.
The Arlington Campus Library is sponsoring its third Annual Library of Congress Orientation and Tour on November 6 & 7. The sessions are geared to University student, staff, and faculty researchers interested in learning more about the “largest library in the world”.
On November 6, a Research Orientation will provide an introduction to using the Library of Congress collections as well meeting with Library of Congress reference professionals.Â On November 7, a Research Tour will be conducted, including the Main Reading Room, reference resources, and possibly “behind the scenes” areas of the Library.Â The two sessions are independent events; please register at ittraining.gmu.edu. Registration for the November 7 Research Tour is required.
