On March 24-25, 2009, George Mason University is holding the conference “1989: Looking Back, Looking Forward” featuring Mikhail Gorbachev as the keynote speaker. Gorbachev will also participate in a round table discussion with Lee Hamilton, President of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, and former FBI Director William Webster. In support of this conference, Special Collections & Archives is hosting a loaned collection of poster art pertaining to the Berlin Wall. Photographs of several of the posters are available for viewing via SC&A’s Facebook page. Some of the posters contain photographic images from the Wall, while others show graphic arts related to, and actual paintings from, the Wall. These items are from the private collection of Thomas Hill.

University Libraries welcomes Ian Fairclough, Catalog/Metadata Librarian, Cataloging & Metadata Services (Fenwick Library). Two current library staff members have new positions in the library system: Mai Ngo, E-resource Access Coordinator (Fenwick Library), and Everett Seamans, Evening Circulation Supervisor/Reference Assistant/Stacks Manager (Mercer Library/Prince William).
